2027 is here and with it, K2 introduces the new Mindbender lineup with all new DMT Dark Matter Technoligies which has allowed them to offer a lighter more forgiving ski. 2027 brings along with it brand new skis from K2 and we at Al's Ski Barn are very excited for the K2 Mindbender 101 Skis with its all new Dark Matter Technology (DMT). This new technology from K2 has allowed them to make the Mindbender 101 skis more playful than the Mindbender 99 Ti while still having the stability of a stiffer and hevier skier. The K2 Mindbender 101 skis box well above their weight class unlike before with the 99Ti which was a beast of a ski for some skiers. Ther biggest difference you will notice form the 99Ti to Mindbender 101 is the playfulness you will get out of it when skiing off trail in the woods or the bumps as it is even easier to change turn shape. This will be one of our best sellers next to the Volkl Mantra M7 96 Skis and the Nordica Enforcer 99 last year and will continue to be this year as well for its versatility on and off piste. If you want a ski that can and will do it all the 2027 K2 Mindbender 101 Skis are certainly one that you should be looking at.
K2's Take: Quick edge to edge? Check. Surprising float in the soft stuff? Oh, you bet. Your one-ski quiver for freeride days. From pow stashes to groomer arcs, the 101 thrives everywhere. Dark Matter tech kills chatter for smooth control, while Titanal I-Beam adds backbone without dead weight. Yep, it goes.
TITANAL I-BEAM: The Titanal I-Beam is K2's proprietary ski construction technology designed to distribute metal exactly where it is needed for precision and power without adding unnecessary weight in the center
Dark Matter Tech: K2 Dark Matter Tech (DMT) is a specialized construction material developed by K2 Skis used to absorb vibrations and eliminate high-frequency chatter in all-mountain and freeride skis. It provides the stability and dampening typically found in heavy metal sheets, but without the excess weight. Instead of using full sheets of metal or traditional alloys, K2 engineers created a proprietary composite material consisting of polyurethane (PU/TPU) injected with stainless steel powder. This material is molded into "pucks" or targeted mass weights that are strategically placed along the ski's edges, directly over the tips and tails.
