The Line Afterbang Shorty was designed for skiers who are just not big enough to get into the adult ski yet they rip so much they cant just get any old junior ski. The 2012 Line Afterbang Short skis are are not for traditional skiers, these skis are built for kids that spend all day exploring the park and any other feature on the mountain that they can jib on or off of. If your kid is aggressive all day long then you will want to consider the Line Afterbang Shorty, if he is more of a freerider and spends more of his time in powder and exploring woods then you will want to consider the EP Shorty or the Sir Francis Bacon Shorty.
